Favorite Foundation Routine - MUFE, Nars & CoverFX
Hello guys! I have been wanting to make a review on these products for sooo long but I wanted to make sure I knew everything I could about how they work with my skin or how they work with different products. Heads up, I have normal, dry and sensitive skin. I have uneven and very dull skin tone.
Make Up Forever - Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer
Pros: Silky, soft, smooth on skin, Lightweight, No residue, Fast absorbing, Balances skintone, Good base for foundations, Long lasting with many foundations
Cons: It takes a lot to cover whole face,
This primer does exactly what it says it does! I'd recommend it to anyone with normal to oily skin. It worked well with different types of foundations, thick, creamy or thin consistencies. Definitely a primer if you want smooth balanced skin and a long lasting base. What I don't like about it is that I need to apply a lot of product to cover my face.
Nars - All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
Pros: Long wearing, Natural finish, Lightweight, Medium coverage, Blurs imperfections, Minimizes pores, Doesn't look cakey even with other products, Very thin consistency
Cons: Dries fast, Clings to dry patches, Messy bottle, Takes like 6 drops for whole face.
I love this brand, so I always have very high expectation of it, considering it's also pricey. It took me a while to actually fall in love with this foundation. At first I was applying it with a brush and it just gave it too much texture. Then I used the Real Techniques Sponge and it was absorbing too much products and not giving me the coverage that I want. So, I applied it with nothing but my fingers and it gave me great coverage and a very natural finish, it looks like it imitates skin! The consistency feels very watery, it blends effortlessly and the skin absorbs it well. I do need like 6 pumps to cover my whole face which I think sucks because I do want this foundation to last me a long time. As for this foundations longevity, it honestly lasted me a good 8+ hours! It wears very well all day long.
Sometimes the weather or products will irritate my skin and give me dry patches and when that happens this foundation emphasizes all the texture from my irritation and makes my face look so flakey. I was on the fence of returning it but then my face went back to normal. This foundation can give you amazing results, I just wouldn't recommend it if you have very dry flaky skin. I need a very thick moisturizer on most days for this foundation to look flawless. This foundation gives an airbrush look and it feels so weightless.
Cover FX - Matte Setting Powder
Pros: Vegan, Matte, Long lasting, Small amount goes a long way, Natural, Adds a little extra coverage
Cons: If you apply too much it will get cakey, Messy Packaging,
This has been my go to setting powder. I apply the smallest amount and it gives me coverage and sets my foundation. It helps my foundations wear longer. I don't like to apply any type of powder directly to my undereyes because they're usually so dry but just a light brush of this powder and it does the job. I can always count on this setting powder and that's why I love it!
Here's how these products look on my normal/dry skin! I use Nivea Creme as my moisturizer and it's fantastic and you can find it for only a dollar! I did close ups of my skin so you can see the texture of it all. This is definitely my favorite foundation routine so far. It gives the coverage of a thicker foundation (that can make me look cakey) but it has the finish of a sheer foundation (Natural).
I hope you have found this post useful! Thanks so much for reading! Tell me what you think in the comments, I'd love to hear! Have a great day everyone.
